Tour description
This one-day optional tour is a perfect opportunity to see one of the most beautiful places in the Balkans – Lake Ohrid and its picturesque surroundings. We depart from the hotel early in the morning to comfortably reach the Macedonian border and then the lake itself, whose vastness, crystal-clear water, and mountain landscapes are impressive at first sight.
The first stop is St. Naum Monastery – located right on the shore of the UNESCO-listed lake. We’ll walk around the courtyard of this thousand-year-old monastery, with the option to enter the historic church within its grounds. The courtyard offers a breathtaking view of the mighty Lake Ohrid. There’s also free time to spend at the huge bazaar with souvenirs, handicrafts, and folk products.
After a short break, we head to Ohrid – a UNESCO-listed city full of history and unique atmosphere. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a tasty traditional lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a tour of the main attractions with a certified Polish-speaking guide – including the ancient amphitheater and charming old town streets. We’ll also visit St. Sophia Church and the unique paper production museum.
The next part of the program is a catamaran cruise along Lake Ohrid’s coast. From the deck, we’ll see the panorama of the entire old town, the former Turkish prison, and one of the most recognizable churches in the Balkans – St. John at Kaneo, picturesquely situated on a cliff above the lake.
After the guided portion, there’s free time for further city exploration and souvenir shopping, including the famous, unique Ohrid pearls.
In the evening, we return to the hotel – full of impressions and beautiful photos from places truly worth seeing.
